Snæfellsjökull Volcano 📍, in Snæfellsnes Peninsula - western Iceland, rises above lava fields and coast, its glacier peak visible for miles. It combines beauty with a quiet sense of mystery and power. Snæfellsjökull is a stratovolcano rising 1,446 meters famed both for its striking beauty and its place in literature. Dormant for about 1,800 years, it became legendary after Jules Verne chose its crater as the entry point to the Earth’s interior in his 1864 novel Journey to the Center of the Earth. Today, as part of Snæfellsjökull National Park, it attracts hikers, sightseers, and literary enthusiasts seeking the dramatic landscapes and mysterious atmosphere that inspired Verne’s classic adventure.
