Kaldbaksfjørður 📍 is a long, sheltered fjord on the east coast of Streymoy in the Faroe Islands, opening into the waters between Streymoy and Eysturoy. The calm bay is framed by rolling green slopes and dotted with small settlements, including the village of Kaldbak, known for its historic church and traditional fishing heritage. Its peaceful waters and gentle scenery make it a quiet contrast to the islands’ more rugged, dramatic coasts.


'...Local tradition tells of fishermen from Kaldbak who once encountered a mysterious “nykur,” a shape-shifting water spirit said to lure people to their doom. Disguised as a beautiful grey horse standing by the shore, the creature would tempt passers-by to climb onto its back, only to drag them into the depths.
