Skarðsáfossur 📍 is a charming waterfall on the island of Kunoy, in the Faroe Islands, where the Skarðsá River plunges down the mountainside before flowing into the fjord. Surrounded by lush green slopes and often shrouded in mist, the falls are particularly striking after heavy rains, when the water cascades in powerful torrents. Its remote setting gives it a serene and unspoiled atmosphere, typical of the hidden natural gems of the Faroes.

"... Local tradition says that in past centuries the waterfall was a gathering place for the villagers to wash and soak newly woven wool, letting the fresh mountain water soften the fibers. Some elders even recall stories of children daring each other to climb the slippery rocks behind the falls, claiming there was a secret hollow where elves lived—though no one has ever proven the tale true..."
