Trøllanes 📍 is a tiny, windswept village perched at the northern tip of Kalsoy, one of the most remote islands in the Faroes. Surrounded by sheer green cliffs and the restless North Atlantic, it feels like the very edge of the inhabited world. With just a handful of turf-roofed houses and a narrow road that twists through the mountains, Trøllanes is also the starting point of the famous Kallur Trail, a breathtaking hike leading to the iconic Kallur Lighthouse, perched on a grassy ridge between towering cliffs and the endless sea. The lighthouse gained worldwide fame as the dramatic backdrop of the final scenes in the James Bond film No Time to Die (2021), attracting film fans and hikers alike to its windswept heights. From the lighthouse, the views stretch across several islands, offering one of the most spectacular panoramas in the Faroes.

'...Its name, meaning “Troll Peninsula,” comes from a legend that trolls once lived here. According to local tales, the trolls would descend from the mountains at night to dance and feast, but always retreated before sunrise to avoid turning to stone. One story tells of a troll who lingered too long, mesmerized by the dawn, and was caught by the first rays of sunlight, becoming the great rock formation that still stands near the village today, gazing eternally out to sea...'
