Jökulsárlón 📍, at the edge of Vatnajökull National Park, is Iceland’s most famous glacier lagoon, a surreal expanse of icebergs drifting silently across crystal-blue waters. Fed by the retreating Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, the lagoon is in constant motion, with blocks of ice breaking off, slowly melting, and eventually floating out to the nearby “Diamond Beach,” where they glisten like jewels on the black volcanic sand. The stillness of the water, broken only by the creak and crack of shifting ice, makes it one of the most mesmerizing places in the country.
