Bergen (view from Skansedammen 📍), Norway’s second-largest city, is cradled between seven mountains and a deep fjord, earning it the nickname “the gateway to the fjords.” While it’s better known for its mild, wet climate, winter occasionally blankets the city in snow, transforming its colorful wooden houses, narrow lanes, and surrounding hills into a winter wonderland. The snow softens the bustle of the harbor, and the nearby Fløyen and Ulriken mountains offer both ski trails and sweeping views over the icy waters.
